Sony Reveals First Xperia Tablet and Three Xperia Smartphones at IFA 2012
Sony Mobile has announced a new range of Xperia smartphones and the first Xperia tablet at IFA 2012.
Made with the same design which was first introduced by the Xperia arc and Xperia arc S, the Xperia T, Xperia V, and Xperia J combine a slim form factor with an emphasis on the display. Users can also conveniently and instantaneously enjoy their music and photos across an array of NFC-enabled Sony devices.
Consumers can enjoy sound clarity via Sony's media application "Walkman" by activating the Sony ClearAudio+ mode. A wide variety of music can be accessed from this application, including consumer's music stored in their PCs and a list of songs "liked" by a consumer's Facebook friends. The "Album" application allows consumers to view, sort, and share pictures with an ability to consolidate photos posted on social media such as Facebook. Also, video content in high picture and sound quality is made possible through the "Movies" application. Additionally, it provides movies synopsis from the rich database of Gracenote.
The new global flagship model, Xperia TX, offers a 4.55-inch HD Reality Display, camera and easy 'One-touch' functions enabled by NFC. It has a 13-megapixel fast capture camera and is capable of capturing Full 1080p HD videos. Driven by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, this PlayStation-certified smartphone runs on the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich platform, and will be upgraded to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean following launch. The Xperia TX is available in Black, Pink, and White. A variant of the Xperia TX with LTE support and higher capacity battery will be known as the Xperia T.
Like the Xperia T, Xperia V comes equipped with a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS (also upgradeable to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean) and 'One-touch' functions. The 4.3-inch mobile device offers a 13-megapixel camera with Full HD video recording, and is dust and water resistant in depths of up to 1m for 30 minutes. The LTE-enabled Xperia V is available in Black, Pink, and White.
The 9.2mm-thin Xperia J includes a 4.0-inch FWVGA display, 5-megapixel camera, front chat camera, and shows social media updates by illumination. It is available in Black, Gold, White, and Pink.
Finally, the first Xperia tablet by Sony - the Xperia Tablet S - sports a slim aluminum body and splash-proof design. Armed with the NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core 1.4GHz processor, it runs on the Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich platform and comes with Sony's network services. Sony also offers a wide range of accessories for the Xperia Tablet S, which include docking stand, tablet stand and cover with keyboard.
The Sony Xperia TX will launch globally over the following weeks, while Xperia V and Xperia J will launch globally in Q4 2012. The Xperia Tablet S will be available from the beginning of September 2012.
