Sony Presents VPL-HW40ES Full HD 3D Home Cinema Projector

Sony has announced a new Full HD 3D home cinema projector, the VPL-HW40ES.

Introduced to expand Sony's home cinema range that already includes the VPL-HW55ES, it utilizes the same SXRD panel technology that's featured in Sony's top-flight digital cinema projectors. Developed for Sony's home cinema projectors, Reality Creation reproduces colors and textures that get lost when movies are packaged to disc, to see clarity in every pixel.

Featuring 1,700 lumens color brightness, Sony's Bright Cinema and Bright TV preset modes enhance the 3D images even further for an optimal viewing experience even in a well-lit room. Contrast Enhancer analyzes scenes in real time, continuously optimizing dynamic range in each area of the image for rich, deep blacks and sparkling highlights. Sport and action scenes also benefit from Motionflow technology, which inserts extra images between the original frames, resulting in sharper and more fluid on-screen motion with less blur.

With an extra-wide lens shift range, the VPL-HW40ES offers more options for positioning the projector from a ceiling mount or off-center horizontally. It has a built-in 3D IR transmitter, automatically recognizes 2D or 3D content, and offers a choice of picture modes to suit the content being viewed. Also, it's suppressed to 21dB for a quiet operation, so you can concentrate on their movies or games without unnecessary distractions.

The VPL-HW40ES will be available in Black or White in APAC from April 2014.
