Sony Online Entertainment Service Hit by Hacker Attack

Another wave of hacker attacks on Sony has been revealed. While Sony is reportedly bringing back the PlayStation Network within this week, another service is now on hiatus - Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) services. This new attack has effectively forced Sony to shutdown all SOE related services, thus suspending gameplay of its various online games such as Everquest and Star Wars Galaxies.

All Things Digital - Gaming and electronics giant Sony disclosed yet another attack by hackers that has resulted in the shutdown of yet another of its online gaming services. The company announced an attack against its Sony Online Entertainment service Tuesday Tokyo time and has temporarily shut the service down.

As of now, Sony has revealed that 24.6 million accounts from SOE may have been stolen, including an outdated database from 2007 which holds approximately 12,700 non-US credit cards and about 10,700 direct debit records.
