The Sony Alpha NEX-7 is arguably the mirrorless camera of 2011. Unfortunately, supply has been severely constrained due to the floodings in Thailand that happened last year and persisted (in some areas) till mid-January this year.
However, it looks like the supply constraint has eased. Sony Singapore has informed us that the NEX-7 will be available from February 15 (that’s next Wednesday), with a price of S$1,799 for the body. Information on the availability and pricing of the kit lens package will be announced at a later date; but if we were to hazard a guess, it should be in the ballpark of S$2,099.
On another note, the Thailand floods had also affected Sony’s new XBA series of balanced armature headphones. After months of waiting, they are finally going to be available from mid-February as well. For those interested, do check out our detailed hands-on report on these headphones.
