Asia-Pacific – Sony brings usability and versatility to a new level with the launch of the PCS-XL55 ‘all-in-one’ high definition (HD) video conferencing system from the IPELA™ range. The 21.6-inch monitor combines smooth HD video transmission and reception with 720p HD image quality communication and incorporates one of the widest camera angle lenses available in the market. In addition to the built-in camera, the Sony PCS-XL55 includes an embedded microphone and speakers to minimize clutter and simplify set-up.
The PCS-XL55 all-in-one HD videoconference system enables the all-important natural meeting experience, with an element of realism, as if both parties are in the same room. Gone are the days of video quality degradation and frame freeze typified by video conferencing, and instead delivering vivid HD quality video like revealing the blush of someone’s face to the crinkle on a shirt.
“Sony is pleased to be introducing a new visual communication concept with the convenient all-in-one conferencing package of the PCS-XL55. Video conferencing has accelerated and grown in leaps and bounds as businesses are increasingly seeing the benefits and instant ROI. Sony is at the forefront of the HD transformation in visual communication and the release of the PCS-XL55 will further revitalize the market and push the industry towards positive changes,” Mr. Tsuyoshi Nagata, General Manager for Business Communications and Projector Display, Business & Professional Products, Sony Electronics Asia Pacific.
It uses 8M pixel CMOS image sensor high resolution camera for smooth communication and reception with 720p progressive high definition video communication at maximum speed of 4Mbps. The camera has 80.1 degrees wide horizontal viewing angle, capturing a wider view without cutting off the image. This feature is ideal for multi-party conferences.
It adopts a wide range of audio codec (MPEG-4 AAC 48kHz) and it also realizes higher presence audio quality like Hi-Fi audio and Stereo Echo Canceller. With state of the art echo cancellation technology, it addresses common audio issues such as voice echoing and sound quality drop when multiple persons are speaking simultaneously. It also allows the speaker to be clearly heard despite being far from the microphone.
Ultra versatile, the 21.6-inch wide LCD display doubles as a PC monitor. It enables you to transmit computer screen shots to remote sites with the Data Solution function. Documents, spreadsheets, images, multimedia files—virtually anything that is stored in your computer can be shared with conference parties seamlessly at 30fps.
The PCS-XL55 provides built-in Sony developed intelligent QoS (Quality of Service) technology to ensure enhanced video quality, stable communication without video noise and audio drop.
Users can customize background screen for remote customer support, ideal for use in medical or financial institutions.
The PCS-XL55 will be available in the first quarter of 2011 in Asia Pacific.
