Sony Announces Two Superzoom Cameras and Four Compacts for the Asia Pacific Market

It's the first day of the CP+ Camera and Photo Imaging Show 2014 and there's a flurry of camera announcements. Among these are four Sony compacts and two superzoom cameras, that are slated to hit the Asia Pacific markets within the next two months. 

Sony Cyber-shot HX400V

The Cyber-shot HX400V features a long-reaching 50x optical zoom in a DSLR-style body. The Optical SteadyShot and Intelligent Active mode features help with keeping full HD videos sharp. The camera also comes with ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* lens, 20.4 megapixels back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor and a BIONZ X processor that’s 3x more powerful than its predecessor. PASM modes allow for manual control and the 201k-dot electronic viewfinder offers an alternative framing method besides the 7.5cm 921k-dot tilting LCD display. 

The camera has built-in Wi-Fi and NFC in terms of connectivity which allows you to not only transfer images wirelessly to other mobile devices, but also lets you use your phone as a remote shutter release. Built-in GPS allows you to retrace your travels with map views on your PC, documenting exactly where all your photos and video were taken. The Multi Interface Shoe allows for additional accessories like a flash or external microphone to be mounted on the camera. 

The Cyber-shot HX400V will be available from April 2014, though its price has not been revealed. 

Sony Cyber-shot H400

 

If 50x optical zoom isn't enough for you, the Sony Cyber-shot H400 offers 63x optical zoom (equivalent to 24.5-1550mm focal length in 35mm format). Optical SteadyShot helps with cutting down camera shake when shooting at high zoom settings. A 20.1 megapixel CCD sensor helps with capturing 720p videos. Intelligent Auto takes the guesswork out of achieving top-quality results. The DSC-H400 automatically recognises a wide range of shooting scenes, taking care of exposure and other settings so you can focus on what’s happening in front of the camera. The Cyber-shot H400 comes with a high-capacity X-Series lithium-ion battery that provides power for around 300 shots between charges – giving you more opportunities to capture the action in everyday situations or while you’re travelling.

The DSC-H400 high-zoom digital camera from Sony will be available in Asia Pacific from April 2014; its price has not been announced yet. 

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX60/HX60V

 

The Cyber-shot DSC-HX60V offers 30x optical zoom in a compact package. It also comes with a 20.4-megapixel back-illuminated Exmor RTM CMOS sensor, premium Sony G Lens and newly developed BIONZ X processor, which is three times faster than its predecessor.

Clear Image Zoom assures crisp, frame-filling 60x close-ups of wildlife or distant landmarks without sacrificing pixel count. And thanks to Optical SteadyShot Intelligent Active Mode, Full HD videos maintain blur-free sharpness and definition at any zoom setting. Even if you’re walking, running or holding the camera at arm’s length, you’ll really see the difference with impressively stable movie footage and a dramatic reduction in hard-to-watch wobbles.

On-board Wi-Fi lets you send photos and videos straight to your smartphone or tablet, while NFC connects effortlessly with compatible mobile devices at a single touch. You can even use your phone as a handy remote controller: perfect for group photos when you don’t want to be stuck behind the camera.Built-in GPS documents exactly where all your photos and video were taken.

The price for the DSC_HX60V has not been revealed, though it will be available from March 2014. 

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX350

Inside the slim, compact body of the Cyber-shot WX350 is a powerful 20x optical zoom G Lens. Optical SteadyShot with Intelligent Active Mode keeps Full HD videos stable and judder-free, even when you’re zoomed in or holding the camera at arm’s length. The camera also comes with an 18.2 effective megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor is partnered by Sony’s speedy BIONZ X image processing engine.

Beauty Effect automatically retouches portraits – smoothing skin, removing unsightly shine, widening eyes and brightening teeth for flattering results with no editing skills needed.

The Cyber-shot DSC-WX350 also sports built-in Wi-Fi with NFC allows easy image sharing with your mobile at a single touch plus wireless remote control. With an extra-long battery life – up to 470 shots from a single charge – Cyber-shot WX350 captures more of those precious moments between top-ups.

The Cyber-shot WX350 will come in black, pink and white and will be available from March 2014. Its price has not been revealed yet. 

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX220

The  Cyber-shot DSC-WX220 sports an 18.2 megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor, BIONZ X processor and 10x optical zoom G Lens.

Great-looking photos and Full HD movies are in easy reach, with top-notch features like Optical SteadyShot with Intelligent Active Mode, Beauty Effect and Wi-Fi/NFC for easy wireless connections. It will come in black, pink and gold. You can find it in stores from March 2014, though its price is not available yet. 

 

 

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W800

The incredibly easy-to-use Cyber-shot DSC-W800 grabs pictures to be proud of with its high-resolution 20.1MP CCD sensor and 5x optical zoom lens.

The built-in shooting modes include Party Mode, which automatically adjusts sensitivity, exposure and colour for vivid memories of those fun evenings. Advanced Flash boosts the camera's sensitivity, effectively extending flash range to make further-away subjects appear brighter. It’s handy for indoor shots or dusk where your camera's built-in flash can struggle to reach the action.

The Cyber-shot DSC-W800 will be available in black and silver, and can be found in stores from April 2014. Its price has not been announced yet.
