Sony Expands VAIO E series with 14-inch Additions

New compact models feature latest computing solutions in new Glossy Vivid Colors

Sony Electronics today announced it is extending the popular VAIO E series with the addition of a more compact 14 inch VAIO E series. With a palette of glossy, vibrant colors available, the VAIO E series is a definitive lifestyle multimedia notebook suited for everyday use.

“We were encouraged by the enthusiastic responses by consumers to the VAIO E series when it was first launched earlier this year,” says Mr. Taisuke Nakanishi, Managing Director, Sony Singapore. “The new 14 inch model is an answer to users who prefer a compact alternative to our 15.5 inch VAIO E notebooks, without compromise on performance, while maintaining the style factor of this specific range.”

The latest computing performance with user-friendly features

The new VAIO E series features the latest Intel architecture[1], offering powerful processing capabilities for everyday use. Additionally, the notebooks are equipped with the latest ATI Mobility RadeonTM 5000 series graphics with a dedicated 1GB or 512MB VRAM to handle intense gaming graphics, image editing, high definition movie playback and media-rich websites with ease.
The VAIO E series is designed with the user in mind. Quick touch buttons such as the ‘WEB” button , ‘ASSIST’ button and ‘VAIO’ button simplify tasks – touch the ‘WEB’ button and start surfing without needing to boot up Windows. The ‘ASSIST’ button gives one-touch access to VAIO Care, which aids users in basic notebook maintenance procedures and troubleshooting tasks to keep the VAIO E series in good condition.

Additionally, the ‘VAIO’ button gives users one-touch access to the Media Gallery application. Users will welcome the intuitive interface to explore their media library of music, photos and videos. For users who like to create customized slideshows of their favorite photos, the Picture Motion Browser VAIO edition is included in the new VAIO E series and enables users to create their personal visual keepsake.

The top-end model of the 14 inch range, VPCEA17FG, comes with a Blu-ray disc drive, propelling the compact notebook as a multimedia powerhouse which is able to deliver high-definition videos from Blu-ray content with amazing quality. The new VAIO notebooks feature a 1366 x 768 LED backlight display, giving a high-contrast view of visual content. Connection to BRAVIA HD TVs is also available via the provision of a HDMI port, allowing users to enjoy their content on even larger screens.

The new VAIO E series notebooks also incorporate a touchpad supporting multi-gesture functions for users. Three major finger motions are supported with this feature: scrolling through pages, moving backwards and forward on web pages and zooming in and out of windows.

Perfect style statement
The new 14-inch VAIO E series is available in a myriad of color options – including the Glossy Basic range, Black and White, which is further furnished with square gradation finish. For the first time, the Glossy Vivid range will feature Blue and Green, on top of the Pink option first seen in the 15.5 inch VAIO E models. The Glossy Vivid range has dot gradation, which adds to the fun and vibrant look of the notebook. However, for those who prefer a subdued look, there are also the Matte Basic options of Black and White.

For those who like to customize their notebooks, Sony is proud to present the VPC-KBV4 – a series of multi-colored keyboard skins, where users can then select the one best to suit their personalities.
