Some iPhone X users hear crackling or buzzing sounds from earpiece speaker

The iPhone X is plagued with another issue - distortion sounds from the front-facing earpiece speaker.

According to MacRumors, there are over two dozen reports about this issue on its forumsReddit and Twitter. Users of these affected iPhone X devices claim that the crackling or buzzing sounds can be heard with any audio playback (e.g. phone calls, music, videos with sound, alarms and ringtones).

It is unclear at the moment whether the sounds are due to a hardware or software issue. However, Apple is reportedly replacing affected iPhone X units free of charge for customers. It is also said to be collecting diagnostic information to find out more about the issue.

Just two months ago, Apple acknowledged that intermittent crackling noises are affecting a small number of iPhone 8 and 8 Plus users during phone calls. The issue was apparently fixed in iOS 11.0.2. Besides the crackling or buzzing sounds from the earpiece, the iPhone X also suffered from unresponsive screens in cold weather and mysterious green lines appearing along the side of the display.
