Singtel launches unlimited data add-on, upgrades plans with unlimited talk time and SMS

Starting today, mid-tier to premium Singtel plans are getting unlimited talk time and SMS. These same plans will also have the option to enjoy Singtel’s new unlimited data add-on, Data X Infinity.

Singtel plans Combo 3, Combo 6, and Combo 12 are now upgraded with unlimited talk time and SMS. To compete with StarHub’s and M1’s unlimited data alternatives, the Red Camp now offers an unlimited data add-on called Data X Infinity. This add-on is offered to three plans mentioned above at an extra S$39.90 per month. But take note that Data X Infinity has a 24-month contract.

“We recognize that our customers want flexibility and control over their mobile plans. That’s why our DATA X 2 and DATA X 3 add-ons have been so well-received. And now with DATA X INFINITY as a further option, our customers can enjoy infinite possibilities for how they live, work and play. We’re pleased to offer our customers a truly unlimited mobile experience. With our nationwide network upgrade to 500Mbps supporting the latest iPhone 8 and iPhone X, as well as Samsung Note8, our customers can now enjoy the full potential of their devices at blazing speeds.’’ – Mr. Yuen Kuan Moon, Chief Executive Officer, Consumer Singapore, Singtel.

Here’s their Fair Usage Policy with regards to Data X Infinity:

“Data X Infinity is solely for personal and non-commercial use only. To ensure that the activities of some users do not impact the ability of other Customers to have access to reliable services, fair usage policy of 50GB above the plan allocated data bundle is applicable on DATA X INFINITY. (Example: Combo 12 customers will enjoy 12GB + 50 GB). When the monthly usage exceeds 50GB (over & above plan allocated data bundle), data speeds will be set at 1Mbps. Normal speed will resume 00:00 hours on your next billing cycle.”

It’s pretty simple. If you exceed 50GB, on top of the existing data in your plan, you’ll be throttled down to 1Mbps until your next month. Singtel can also throttle a user on a daily basis (it’s in the URL above), depending on their usage. Like the monthly version, it will be lifted at 0000HRS, but on the following day instead of the next month.

Before you raise your pitchforks, know that an average PC or laptop home user would burn about 20GB to 30GB of Wi-Fi per month (more if you have a selection of “tasteful” torrented content). 50GB is truly an outlier; unless you’re sharing your Data X Infinity with the entire dormitory or HDB block (these are just examples and are not suggestions in any manner).

Customers who subscribe to Data X Infinity will also have the option to share their data with up to three family members with a MobileShare supplementary plan, which is available at S$10.70/month per line.

Unfortunately, Combo 1 and Combo 2 lines cannot sign up for Data X Infinity.

For Singtel customers who subscribe to Combo 6 or Combo 12, there’s a free data roaming plan too (data roaming itself is charged separately).

A summary of all the points mentioned above.
