SingTel Completes Upgrades of 3G and 4G Networks Along North-East Line

SingTel today announced that it has completed upgrades of its 3G and 4G networks along the North-East Line (NEL) and some stations along the Circle Line (CCL).

The 12 stations along the CCL are Caldecott, Botanic Gardens, Farrer Road, Holland Village, Buona Vista, One North, Kent Ridge, Haw Par Villa, Pasir Panjang, Labrador, Telok Blangah and Harbourfront.

It is part of the telco's ongoing efforts to enhance mobile coverage in MRT stations and tunnels. Previously, all three telcos had no 4G coverage at underground MRT stations and tunnels.

The upgrading process takes a longer time as work can only be performed during hours when trains are not in operation to avoid disruption to MRT services. SingTel states that it is working with SMRT to get more maintenance sessions to expedite the upgrades on the other lines and will provide updates in the near future.
