Silicon Power announces new Slim S85 and Velox V85 gaming-grade SSDs

Silicon Power has just announced two new SSDs - the Slim S85 and Velox V85. The new drives will be offered in the standard 2.5-inch form factor and will have a thickness of 7mm, which makes them suitable for Ultrabook upgrades. The two drives are identical in all respects with the only exception being that the Velox V85 will come with a desktop mounting kit.

As for performance, the Slim S85 and Velox V85 are equipped controllers sourced from Phison and will both offer sequential read and write speeds of up to 560MB/s and 540MB/s respectively, which is in line with today's high-end consumer SSDs. The Slim S85 and Velox V85 will be available in 240GB, 480GB and 960GB capacities and they will also be backed by 5-year warranties.
