While makers of Android smartphones these days are trying their best to amaze consumers by means of showing off devices with superlative specifications, Sharp, with its SH-06D NERV, is grabbing your attention with its different approach.

Taking inspiration from the popular Japanese anime ‘Neon Genesis Evangelion’, it is apparent that Sharp has closely focused on the fine details of the SH-06D NERV to come up with an Evangelion fanboy’s Android phone. As you can see in the photo above, the phone takes cues from the elements of the aforementioned mecha anime, starting from the chassis down to its customized Android user interface.

In terms of specifications, the SH-06D NERV’s hardware platform is based on that of the SH-06D3D, featuring a 4.5-inch display, a dual-core processor with 1.2GHz speed, and Android 2.3 (Gingerbread).

Sadly for Evangelion fans living outside Japan, the SH-06D NERV will be exclusively sold in limited numbers in that country through NTT Docomo sometime in June, a couple of months before ‘Evangelion: 3.0’ is expected to hit Japanese theaters.
