Seiko to re-release the watch Steve Jobs wore in iconic photo

One of the most iconic photos of Steve Jobs is that of him sitting down in his living room with a Mac on his lap.

In that photo, he was wearing a simple Seiko quartz watch from Seiko's Chariot line. And last year, that exact watch he was wearing was auctioned for a cool $US42,500.

And now, Seiko has announced that it will team up with Japanese designer and clothing retailer Nano Universe to re-release that iconic watch.

The new reissue stays faithful to original, but with some updates. The remains fantastically minimalistic, but the case has been beefed up a little with more muscular lugs.

The original Steve Jobs watch was 33mm wide and Seiko is offering the new reissue timepieces in both 33mm and 37.5mm. The case is stainless steel with IP black coating.

In addition, the reissue watches will come with a choice of a black or white dial. As you can probably tell from the photo above, Jobs wore one with a white dial.

And inside, the new reissue watches are powered by Seiko's trusty quartz caliber 7N01, which offers timekeeping accurate to +/- 15 seconds a month.

The white dial versions will be limited to 1,982 pieces, while the black dial versions will be limited to just 300 pieces and will be a Nano Universe exclusive.

These watches will be priced at ¥20,000 (~S$250) and they will be available from 10 March. The bummer is that they will only be officially available in Japan.
