Four screenshots were taken of the next iteration of Google Android operating system (OS) running on a Nexus S phone.
According to Android Police, the images revealed little details other than tweaks to the Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) user interface. Besides taking on a blue theme, the new ICS user interface seemed to sport a revamped notification bar, a new launcher and app drawer. Pictures taken by RootzWiki show that the Google Search Bar is now embedded on the top left hand corner, which is similar to what we see in Honeycomb tablets.
Not seen in the images are changes to the Gmail and Android Camera apps. The Gmail app is said to take on a new look to fit the OS while the Camera app now has a panorama mode.
While the images shed little light on the extent of the overhaul in ICS, we are still keeping our fingers crossed for more significant changes and new features such as the holographic user interface and enhanced multitasking capabilities.
