Samsung is inching closer to an official launch of its next generation Tab S, known as the Tab S2 8.0, as the device is spotted on the Chinese telecommunications governing body TENAA's website.

According to the photos and listing, the successor to the current Tab S 8.4 is assigned the model number SM-T715 and has a super sleek side profile of 5.4mm. This could make the Tab S2 8.0 the world's thinnest tablet. In comparison, the current Tab S 8.4 measures 6.6mm thin. The Apple iPad Mini 3 and Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact are 7.5mm and 6.4mm thin respectively.

Other specs revealed include an octa-core 1.9GHz processor, 3GB RAM, 16GB internal storage space with microSD expansion, an 8-inch AMOLED display with 4:3 aspect ratio and a resolution of 2,048 x 1,536 pixels.

Aside from the Tab S2 8.0, Samsung is said to be unveiling a 9.7-inch model as well. @OnLeaks managed to obtain a press render of the 9.7-inch tablet last month, which shows a Galaxy S6-inspired design and a metallic frame. Both Tab S2 devices are expected to be announced later this month.
