Samsung's new Note 4 beaten by new iPhones on home soil

Pre-orders of Apple's newest iPhones have exceeded all expectations in South Korea. Apple's newest phones will go on sale in South Korea this Friday and pre-orders, which started last Friday, have since numbered over 100,000. In comparison, when the Note 4 achieved just around 30,000 units over a similar time frame.

This is significant because on home soil, Samsung is the undisputed mobile phone king with a market share of around 63%. LG is a faraway second with 22%, followed by Pantech with 7% and Apple with just 6%.

According to telecoms company KT Corp., pre-orders of the new iPhones exceeded 10,000 units in just one minute. And in 30 minutes, over 50,000 orders were collected.

LG Uplus Corp. also experienced similar results and said that it received over 20,000 orders in just 20 minutes.

But to be fair, reports are pitting numbers of both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus combined against just the Note 4, so it is not an entirely fair comparison. Still, these numbers should be worrying for Samsung, who earlier warned investors of declining profits due to increased competition in the smartphone space.

And if you are still in caught in a dilemma between choosing the iPhone 6 Plus or Note 4, may we suggest you read our piece here where we compare the two in detail.
