Samsung tipped to launch Galaxy Note 7 earlier to replicate success of Galaxy S7

Will Samsung launch the Galaxy Note 6 earlier this year?

Samsung may be accelerating its plans to launch the Galaxy Note 7 after looking at the success of its Galaxy S7 smartphones.

Neil Mawston, executive director of researcher Strategy Analytics, told Bloomberg that the success of the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge will prompt Samsung to use the same strategy - an earlier release and cheaper price points - for its Galaxy Note series.

“We expect Samsung’s Galaxy S7 to be the world’s best-selling Android smartphone in 2016,” Mawston said in an e-mail. “We expect Samsung to release the Note 6 a month or two before the Apple iPhone 7, to try and grab that window of opportunity.”

Korean site The Bell reported last month that the Galaxy Note 7 could launch in mid July and ship with Android N. Rumored specs include a 5.8-inch RGB Quad-HD AMOLED display, 6GB RAM, 64/128GB internal storage space and a 12-megapixel rear camera with a 5-axis image stabilization system (dubbed as Super O.I.S Plus).
