Samsung suspends production of Galaxy Note7
South Korean news agency Yonhap is reporting that Samsung has temporarily suspended production of its Galaxy Note7 smartphone. According to Yonhap's source, an unnamed official at a Samsung supplier, the suspension is being done in coordination with safety officials in South Korea, the United States and China.
Last month, Samsung announced a recall on all Galaxy Note 7 smartphones after numerous reports of the devices exploding when charged surfaced. In the last week, however, at least three replacement Note 7s have also caught fire.
Following one Note7 catching fire in Taiwan, the Taiwan's Consumers' Foundation has reportedly advised Samsung Taiwan to halt all sales and replacements of the Galaxy Note7 for fears that continued sales of the device will be like "sending bombs to consumers". In the US, AT&T and T-Mobile have already announced that they are indefinitely suspending all sales and replacements of the Note 7.
