Samsung mobile chief JK Shin told Korean media that the company has sold more than 40 million units of the Galaxy S4 worldwide, which puts rumors of disappointing sales to rest.

The sales momentum does not seem to slow down as the Galaxy S4 hit global sales of 10 million units in its first month, 20 million units in its second month and 30 million units in four months. Its predecessor, the Galaxy S3, took six months to reach 30 million.

Korean media reported earlier this month that the sales of the Galaxy S4 have not met Samsung's expectations, which resulted in the company pushing the launch of the next generation Galaxy S5 smartphone to January 2014.

JK Shin also shared his thoughts on the recent reports of battery issues with the Galaxy S4. He pointed out that the company is working with different battery suppliers to solve the issue.
