*Update as of 19/2/2013 5.30 am: Multiple sources have confirmed that Samsung will be taking the wraps off the Galaxy S IV on 14 March in New York City. Eldar Murtazin from Mobile-review claims in his tweet that a big announcement is slated to be made on 14 March, followed shortly by SamMobile who alleged that the tweet is referring to the Galaxy S IV. Sources familiar with Samsung's plans told The Verge that 14 March is "definitely" the day when the South Korean company will be unveiling one or more devices.

Update as of 06/2/2013 5.10 pm : New rumors have now point to an earlier announcement of the Galaxy S IV on the 15th of March, according to a trusted insider who spoke to SamMobile. The device is set to go on sale from the second week of April. According to the site's speculations, they expect Samsung to send the media invitations "right after the Mobile World Congress".

Rumors on the Galaxy S IV are picking up rapidly over the past few days, with the latest reports indicating that the phone will be launched in March.

According to Korean news outlet Asian Economies, "telecommunications industry sources" claim that the Galaxy S IV will be launched at the Samsung Mobile Unpacked event in the U.S on 22 March. If the report turns out to be true, it will be the first Unpacked event in the U.S since the debut of the Galaxy S in 2010.

Quoting information from its insider sources, SamMobile followed up with its own report that the Galaxy S IV will hit retail shelves in April. Previously, SamMobile asserted that the project codename for the Galaxy S IV was "Project J". However, Samsung has since changed the codename to "Altius (J)".

SamMobile's sources also state that the Galaxy S IV will come in two colors: black and white, and shipping of the device will begin on Week 16 (April 15). The upcoming flagship device is reported to be equipped with wireless charging capability. A separate dock and a back cover with wireless charging capabilities will be made available weeks after the Galaxy S IV goes on sale.

The site also confirms that the Galaxy S IV will have a removable 2600mAh battery. The Galaxy S III has a 2100mAh battery while the Galaxy Note II sports a massive 3100mAh battery. The Galaxy S IV is also rumored to come with S-Pen functionality, a slightly thicker chassis (9.2mm) and a 4.99-inch 1080p display.

Samsung's mobile division head JK Shin has also officially confirmed that the S IV will not be announced at MWC 2013 in February. The Korean company launched the Galaxy S III at a Mobile Unpacked event held in London last May.
