A month ago, we brought you a roundup of Samsung's 2012 collection of Smart TVs during their launch over at Bangkok. Equipped with voice and motion controls as well as face-recognition features, it seems that the South Korean-based CE company has done all they could for their Smart TV line-up. However, it appears that Samsung isn't quite done with their HDTV portfolio for the year as yet.

According to Pocket-lint's recent report, Samsung has confirmed the impending launch of a "new luxury TV" during IFA 2012 to be held in Berlin from the 31st August to the 5th September. Michael Zoeller, European Marketing Director of Samsung Televisions, added that this new luxury set would occupy the flagship spot on top of existing Samsung HDTV models.

To keep competitors on their toes, perhaps, Zoeller did not elaborate further about the upcoming premium HDTV model. In other words, we know next to nothing about this mysterious Samsung display, apart from the likelihood that it's going to be tagged with a massive price tag. Samsung's existing flagship model, the 30.8mm-thin ES8000, already sports a dual-core processor, a 960Hz Clear Motion Rate, and a revitalized AllShare Play wireless streaming feature for compatible mobile devices besides the TV's voice and gesture controls features.

So what else is left? Pocket-lint reckons it is possible that Samsung will be unveiling a 4K display during the upcoming trade show. This isn't surprising, in our opinion, since rivals LG has already flaunted their 84-inch "Ultra-definition" (3840 by 2160 pixels) 3D TV during CES 2012 just months ago. Whatever Samsung's game plan is, we can be certain that their luxury display set would undoubtedly cost more than the 55-inch ES8000, currently priced at S$6,499.
