Samsung is reportedly facing supply issues of the front-facing camera for the S8

Although Samsung states that it should have no supply issues for the Galaxy S8 at launch, reports have surfaced of a manufacturing issue that could jeopardize stocks in the near term.

Unnamed industry sources told The Bell that Samsung's supplier Patron is facing manufacturing issues with the front-facing camera modules for the Galaxy S8. Production yield is said to be below 70% and for a stable supply, a minimum yield rate of 80% is required.

This issue will not affect the Galaxy S8+ as the larger-sized model uses separate modules for the front-facing camera and iris scanner. On the other hand, Samsung combined the two modules into one on the Galaxy S8.
