Samsung may adopt iPhone-styled home button for better fingerprint recognition

Samsung has been using the oblong home button on its mobile devices for many years and it may be time for a change.

Patently Mobile reports that Samsung has two patents which describe two approaches to improve fingerprint recognition on its phones. The first patent describes an iPhone-styled round home button at the bottom of the display while the second patent shows the fingerprint scanner on the back of the device.

With Apple fiercely guarding its patented Touch ID design and technology, it is unlikely that Samsung will use the first patent in reality. However, we also have seen similar implementations of the fingerprint sensors on the rear of devices such as LG and Huawei. It remains to be seen if Samsung will actually implement these two patents.
