In New York's Madison Square Garden today, Samsung unveiled its latest premium flagship tablets, the 8.4- and 10.5-inch Galaxy Tab S.

Both the 8.4 and 10.5-inch models will be armed with 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution Super AMOLED displays, the first Samsung tablets to use a Super AMOLED display in two years (the last one was the Tab 7.7). Both devices are incredibly thin, measuring just 6.6mm, and light, with the 10.5-inch model coming in at 465g, and the 8.4-inch model just 294g. Depending on region, the devices will be armed with either a Exynos 5 Octa 5410 (1.9GHz A15 Quad-core + 1.3GHz A7 Quad-core) or Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 (2.3GHz) processor, with all models coming with 3GB RAM.

The Tab S shares some similarities to the Galaxy S5, including the dimpled rear cover, and the fingerprint scanner on the Home button. Unfortunately, unlike the S5, the Tab S will not be dust or water resistant, nor will it include a heart rate monitor.

The Tab S will be available in the US in July, with the 8.4-inch model retailing for US$399, and the 10.5-inch model for US$499.
