Samsung launches 2016 version of Galaxy Tab A with S Pen stylus

Samsung announced the launch of the Galaxy Tab A (2016, 10.1”) with S Pen 4G tablet. This tablet with a stylus is available now, at S$498, in Black or White.

The non-stylus version launched earlier in July, and both have a 1.6GHz octa-core processor, an 8.0-megapixel rear camera, and a 2.0-megapixel front camera. Other specs include a 10.1-inch WUXGA (1,900 x 1,200 pixels resolution) TFT LCD screen, 3GB RAM, 16GB internal storage (expandable with MicroSD up to another 256GB). Of course, the main difference is the improved S Pen stylus on this model.

The S Pen is supported by the Screen Off Memo feature, which allows a user to quickly jot down important stuff without firing the phone up. The Smart Select function allows the creation of .GIF animations quickly, and Air Command lets you hover the S Pen above images and words to zoom in, or to translate languages. These features first appeared on their Galaxy Note stylus smartphones.

The new tablet with S Pen runs on Android 6.0.1 OS (Marshmallow), and it has a battery capacity of up to 13 hours. According to Samsung, this enables the Galaxy Tab A (2016, 10.1”) with S Pen 4G to have “up to 13 hours of Internet usage on the tablet”, although that could mean anything from watching videos to idly receiving new e-mails.

In other news, the beautiful Blue Coral version of the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is finally in Singapore. It will be available come on 5th November 2016, at S$1,098 (32GB).
