The Samsung Galaxy S9 may include a more advanced form of face recognition that involves both camera-based face detection and Samsung's iris scanning technology.

Samcentral found evidence of an Intelligent Scan feature hidden inside the APK for the Galaxy Note 8's Oreo beta. According to the strings in the Settings apk, Intelligent scan is a combination of both Iris and Facial recognition that uses both for "better accuracy and security" and improved results in "low or very bright" lighting.

A video of the feature suggests that both the iris scanner and camera are active at the same time, but it's not certain whether this means their data is combined or one is used as a backup for the other.
