Samsung Galaxy S Plus with Palm Inductive Charging Mod Spotted

What if there's a way for you to charge your Samsung Galaxy S Plus, without the messy power cables?

Well, you can take a cue from this guy who made a do-it-yourself inductive charger for his new Samsung Galaxy S Plus. The premise is simple: purchase a Palm Pre back cover and Touchstone dock, tear the charging circuit out from the cover and attached it to the cover of the Galaxy S Plus.

Now this is the part where it gets tricky. The wires have to be soldered onto the microUSB port and microSD slot, with the former attached to the +5v wire while the microSD slot acts as the grounding point.

And voila, the Galaxy S Plus is now capable of inductive charging. This method should supposedly work for the Galaxy S, so if you have a spare one lying around (perhaps after you purchased the Galaxy S II for yourself), you could tinker with it. Or, just get a PowerMat add-on that gives you the same inductive charging capability, at the cost of making your phone slightly thicker.
