Samsung Galaxy S Comes with Android 2.1, Super AMOLED and 1GHz Processor

Here's something that came as a surprise to most of us - at this year's CTIA, Samsung throws up another goodie for everyone with a new Android device. Not just any device - it's one that uses Android 2.1, powered by Samsung's 1GHz processor, and like the Samsung Wave announced at Mobile World Congress, uses the new Super AMOLED display. Named as the Samsung Galaxy S, its specficiations could give the just announced HTC Desire (also an Android 2.1 device with a 1GHz processor) some stiff competition.

Engadget - Samsung dragged the Galaxy S out for us to gawk at this morning at CTIA and after the 30 minute video presentation, we were itching to actually check it out in our hands. Let's just get this out of the way right off: the 4-inch WVGA 800 X 480 Super Amoled display on the Galaxy S is nothing short of stunning. Put side by side with an iPhone under some very harsh lighting, the difference between them -- feel free to have a peek at the video after the break -- is pretty astounding.

But this isn't the end. According to a Samsung spokesperson, the Galaxy S and Wave won't be the only ones sporting a Super AMOLED screens, with more high-end devices from Samsung going that same route. So expect more Super AMOLED devices coming your way in 2010. Learn more about the Samsung Galaxy S here.
