Samsung will be using one of its Exynos chipset on its upcoming Galaxy Note 5.

According to benchmark results from Geekbench 3, the Galaxy Note 5 is revealed to be powered by an Exynos 7420 octa-core chipset and 4GB RAM. If you find the name of the processor familiar, it is because the same processor can be found on the Galaxy S6

As a quick recap, the Exynos 7420 is based on ARM's big.LITTLE architecture with four Cortex-A57 cores at 2.1GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores at 1.5GHz. It also is the first mobile chipset to be built on a 14nm fabrication process which makes it more power efficient.

With the continued use of its own Exynos chipsets for its flagship smartphones, Qualcomm's financial outlook in the next few quarters is not going to be positive. The results from Geekbench 3 also confirms an earlier rumor that the Galaxy Note 5 will come with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM. Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+ on 12th August
