Samsung confirms it will be selling refurbished Galaxy Note7

Despite promising to dispose all recalled Galaxy Note7 units, Samsung just issued a press release detailing how it plans to recycle and process the devices in an environmetally-friendly manner. It consists of three parts - reusing salvageable components, extraction of metals using environmentally friendly methods, and selling refurbished units.

For the refurbished units, Samsung states that it will consult regulatory authorities and telcos before selling them. Markets and release dates will vary according to local demand. As for the salvageable components such as semiconductors and camera modules, Samsung will be using them for test sample production purposes. Precious metals such as copper, nickel , gold and silver will be extracted by eco-friendly companies.

Samsung previously shot down rumors of refurbished Note7 units being sold in developing countries. Well, it now seems that the Galaxy Note7 is brought back from the dead.
