Samsung confirms Galaxy Note Edge launch in US; available from 14 November

Originally slated to be available sometime in the fourth quarter of the year, Samsung has just announced the US launch date of the one-sided curved display Galaxy Note Edge that's set to be in retail from 14 November.

Boasting all the features and capabilities of the Galaxy Note 4, the Galaxy Note Edge is everything you want out of the Galaxy Note series but now boasts a curved edge display. Made possible by a seamless curved screen, Samsung is using this edge to show alerts, notifications, on-screen controls and more supplementary functions without crowding the main display area.

The Galaxy Note Edge can be considered a slightly smaller, but curvier variant of the Galaxy Note 4. It sports a 5.6-inch QHD Super AMOLED display, whereas the Galaxy Note 4 has a 5.7-inch screen. Compared to the Note 4, the Note Edge is slightly thinner at 8.3mm and lighter at 174g, and uses a smaller 3,000mAh battery. From what we’ve gathered previously, the Galaxy Note Edge is available in two different storage capacities of 32GB and 64GB internal storage, but it now seems that only the 32GB edition is being launched. microSD memory card expansion is also available and it supports up to 128GB capacity cards.

We reached out to Samsung Singapore for local availability, but there’s no word on that yet. Meanwhile, do check out our hands-on article from IFA 2014 for more photos, videos and usage scenarios enabled by the Galaxy Note Edge.
