According to reports from Business Korea, Samsung has just clinched a mega deal to supply SSDs to major manufacturers like Apple and Microsoft.

The deal is said to be worth roughly 20 million drives and are for Samsung's new NVME-compatible 256GB SSDs that will be used in laptops.

The NVME protocol was developed expressly for SSDs and supersedes the older AHCI interface. Primarily, it reduces latency by promoting greater parallelism and allowing more commands to be executed simultaneously, which in turn increases drive performance.

Samsung is said to dominate the SSD market with a market share of around 40%.
