Samsung and ITE Invest in Tech Hub, Trains Students for the Industry

Mr Bruce Poh, Director and CEO of ITE (second from left), and Mr Harry Lee (second from right), President of Samsung Electronics Singapore signed the three-year MOU today at ITE College East.

Samsung Electronics Singapore and ITE today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the professional development and industry-relevant training of students as part of Samsung's corporate citizenhip efforts.

The highlight of the partnership is the setting up of the ITE-Samsung Tech Hub, which is a comprehensive in-house facility with Samsung products, equipment and software to support the training of students in the relevant courses. The Tech Hub is expected to be completed in August this year.

Students from the Nitec in Electronics (Mobile Devices) and Nitec in Electronics (Display Technology) will have access to Samsung's leading commercial solutions and emerging mobile technologies to prepare them for careers in the mobile and display technology industries.

The existing Mobile Device Technology Centre will be renovated and renamed ITE-Samsung Tech Hub. Renovations are expected to be completed in August.

The collaboration will also provide opportunities for these students to use Samsung products to provide technology solutions when working on industry projects. Industrial attachment opportunities, scholarships and awards will be provided by Samsung for the deserving students, where they can take up joint-certification training programmes to enhance their skills and knowledge.

ITE staff will benefit from the collaboration as Samsung will conduct training programmes to facilitate knowledge and technology transfer. Staff will be kept updated on the latest technological advancements so that they can train students effectively.

The signing of MOU was attended by principals of the three ITEs and senior management executives of Samsung Electronics Singapore.
