ASUS ZenFone Zoom S will be available at S$678

ASUS has launched the ZenFone Zoom S in retail on 20th May 2017, at an official retail price of S$678.

Available in 64GB internal storage capacity, the phone comes in Navy Black (check out our gallery here), and Rose Gold. Glacier Silver (and the 128GB variant) is currently not available in Singapore.

The ASUS ZenFone Zoom S went by a different name when it was unveiled at CES 2017. Some readers might recognize it as the Zenfone 3 Zoom (as seen in our hands-on feature). In Singapore, ASUS will be marketed it as the ZenFone Zoom S.

The promises remain the same – this phone marks itself as ASUS's first attempt at a phone with dual rear cameras. They are both 12 megapixel sensors, with the Main Camera utilizing a Sony IMX362 sensor that boasts low-light proficiency thanks to its f/1.7 aperture lens. It's further aided by ASUS's TriTech+, which is a host of Dual Phase Detection, 2nd-generation Laser, and Contrast AutoFocus options.

The secondary rear camera is their Zoom Camera, where it has a fixed focal length of 59mm (35mm equivalent), giving it a 2.3x optical zoom when compared to the 25mm Main Camera. With digital zoom in the mix, the ASUS ZenFone Zoom S can achieve a maximum of 12x zoom. RAW support is available, but only when the Zoom S receives its Android 7.0 OS update as it will ship with Android 6.0 OS out of the box.

Inside is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chip that includes eight ARM Cortext-A53 cores with a maximum clockrate of 2.0GHz. It’s a mid-range processor that’s supposedly big on power efficiency. In fact, the ZenFone Zoom S shares the same chip, as well as the same 5.5-inch, Full HD (1,920 x 1,080 pixels resolution) display as the ASUS ZenFone 3 that started it all. However, the Zoom S boasts a much larger battery capacity - 5,000mAh.

ASUS is serving up a host of manual controls in its camera app, with options for controlling things like exposure values, ISO, shutter speed, and the focal length.
