Rumor: Samsung Prepping Snapdragon 800-powered Galaxy S4 for International Markets

So, how many variants of the Samsung Galaxy S4 do you know of, besides the S4 Mini, S4 Active, S4 Zoom, and S4 Google Edition? Well, you may have also heard of the S4 LTE-A, which supports LTE-Advanced connectivity for data speeds of up to 150Mbps, and which uses the faster Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor (the original S4 uses either the Snapdragon 600 or the Exynos 5 Octa 5410) - but this version is only available in South Korea.

According to Ringer’s Blue Men (Google Translate) and an AnTuTu benchmark however, it looks like Samsung is now preparing for an international version of the regular S4 that uses the Snapdragon 800 SoC (clocked at 2.3GHz), and it carries the model number GT-I9506 (the international version for the regular S4 is GT-I9505). This doesn’t come too much of a surprise, as phone makers like HTC, LG, and Sony are also expected to launch new devices sporting the Snapdragon 800. In fact, the 6.44-inch Sony Xperia Z Ultra is already confirmed to be using the quad-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz.

With the Galaxy Note 3 expected to be announced in September during IFA in Berlin, the stage is set for the unveiling of this improved S4. The 4th quarter of 2013 is shaping up to be very interesting indeed.
