Rumor: Office 2013 for Android and iOS To Be Released in March 2013
It is rumored that Microsoft will be releasing Office 2013 as a mobile software suite for both Android and iOS devices. This is according to the Czech website IHNED who spoke to a Microsoft product manager. We have heard rumors that Office 2013 may be ported over to iOS devices as early as late last year and with Android platform being alleged added to the list, it would certainly bolster Microsoft's efforts to reach out to users on these platforms for their office productivity needs.
According to the Microsoft product manager, the mobile version of Office 2013 will arrive as native applications for both the mobile platforms. This alleged move to Microsoft is seen as an acknowledgement of the popularity of Android and iOS mobile computing devices, else it would run the risk of losing its market share to competing applications like QuickOffice or alternative cloud-based solutions like Google Docs. However, according to The Verge, this rumor has been refuted by Microsoft who claimed that their Czech subsidiary had shared the wrong information.
Besides those alleged mobile platforms, Office 2013 is currently supported on Windows Phone and Symbian. Earlier, we reported that Office 2013 will be released for Windows RT devices in November this year.
