Rumor: NVIDIA Plans GPU Price Cuts in November
According to DigiTimes, NVIDIA may have plans to reduce GPU prices in November this year. This is in response to AMD's recent announcement of their R7 and R9 series graphics cards. NVIDIA also has alleged plans to release one to two new GPUs, targeting the mainstream market towards the end of the year.
The new GPUs are expected to be in the price range of US$149 to US$249. This price range will position the new GPUs just right below the market segment that is targeted by the GeForce GTX 760 series. The current GeForce GTX 700 series consists of their high-end GTX 780, the GTX 770 and the GTX 760. On top of that, there is also the GTX Titan.
We wonder if NVIDIA will release new GPUs to compete directly with the AMD R9 series, which is meant for gamers and enthusiasts. The new R7 and R9 graphics cards will be made available with staggered releases this month. However, for system builders who are looking to purchase a discrete desktop graphics card, we strongly suggest waiting till November to see what NVIDIA has up their sleeves.
