Rumor: DJI’s next drone is going to be called the Mavic Air
Rumor site DroneDJ seems to have acquired first photos and specifications of DJI’s latest drone. They expect it to be called the Mavic Air, and is said to carry a 1 /2.3” CMOS sensor and a new signal processor that will allow it to do 4K video at 60fps. It’s supposed to also come with a 3-way gimbal and have four foldable legs like the Mavic Pro.
It will also feature a 32-megapixel panorama mode, obstacle avoidance, gesture control, and a Visual Positioning System that will allow for better control, hovering and flying even when used indoors. DroneDJ expects it to be compatible with the DJI Googles and have a 21 minute flight time, so it certainly seems like and something in between the Spark and the current Mavic Pro. With the estimated price to be US$699, perhaps that means the price of the Spark will drop further to prevent cannibalization?
Whatever it is, we’ll be sure to update this piece once we get further details.
