Right on time: Office Mobile universal apps now generally available

In preparation of Windows 10 that’s due to arrive in less than two weeks’ time, Microsoft has now made the Office universal apps generally available on the Windows Store.

As mentioned earlier, these Word Mobile, Excel Mobile, and PowerPoint Mobile apps for Windows 10 are for Windows 10 PCs and tablets, not phones. For 10.1-inch and below devices, viewing and most editing on these Office Mobile apps will remain free for non-commercial use. Anything larger and you’ll need an Office 365 subscription for the editing features.

Other Office universal apps for Windows 10 include OneNote (which strangely isn’t called OneNote Mobile), Outlook Mail, and Outlook Calendar. OneNote is also available now on the Windows Store; Outlook Mail and Calendar will be installed as part of Windows 10.
