Repair fee for a damaged HomePod can cost as much as a new unit

The HomePod speaker is not only priced higher than most of its rivals, it is also very expensive to repair if it is out of warranty or not covered under AppleCare+.

Apple updated the HomePod support website with the out-of-warranty service pricing for the speaker and it is mind-blowing! If the HomePod is not covered under warranty, AppleCare+ or consumer law, be prepared to fork out US$279 for the repair fee.

To put the repair fee in perspective, the HomePod is priced at US$349 which is US$70 lesser than a brand new unit! If the HomePod is covered under warranty or AppleCare+, the repair fee is US$39.

The AppleCare+ for the HomePod costs US$39 and extends the warranty coverage to two years from the original purchase date. It also adds up to two incidents of accidental damage coverage.

If you recall, the iPhone X also has ridiculous repair fees if it is not covered under warranty or AppleCare+. Accidental screen damage can cost you S$418 while liquid damage will cost you S$828!
