Razer updates Hammerhead in-ear gaming monitors with flat cables and better audio

Razer Hammerhead Pro V2

Razer has announced updates to its Hammerhead and Hammerhead Pro in-ear monitors in the form of an improved design and better sound quality. The new V2 IEMs will feature a solid chassis constructed from CNC-milled aircraft-grade aluminum, flat cables that resist tangling, and larger 10mm dynamic drivers.

The difference between the Pro and non-Pro versions is the presence of three quick-action control buttons – volume up, down, and pause/play – and an in-line microphone. The Hammerhead Pro V2, which comes with the aforementioned features, will work with both iOS and Android, so users can take calls with the IEM as well.

The previous Hammerhead iterations featured smaller 9mm drivers, and Razer claims that the new 10mm drivers offer better acoustic clarity and more powerful bass. Still, we’d take this with a pinch of salt because any IEM that has been tuned for gaming isn’t going to offer the best clarity, and an overpowering bass may muddy the rest of the frequencies. In other words, it’s going to work fine for gaming, but audiophiles will likely stay far away.

Both IEMs are bundled with three different sized ear tips and an optional bi-flange attachment for better isolation. A splitter cable is also included with the Hammerhead Pro V2 to allow you to connect it to devices with dedicated audio and microphone jacks.

The Hammerhead V2 and Pro V2 are available now on the local Razer Store at S$89.99 and S$124.90 respectively. The IEMs are expected to begin shipping on 13 April.
