Original article publised on 21st July 2016 is as follows:-

The Pokémon Go craze is real, and everyone is looking to get a slice of the pie. Razer has now announced RazerGo, a new chat app for Pokémon Go that will allow players to talk to each other on a local, regional, or even global scale. Pokémon Go actually lacks a chat functionality, so it was only a matter of time before companies and individuals attempted to plug that gap and capitalize on its popularity.

A web version of RazerGo is already live here, and Android and iOS apps are expected to follow around 25 July, pending approval from both stores. RazerGo uses your location just like Pokémon Go, and users can choose to talk in the local (a 5km radius), regional (100km), or global (1,000km) chat. In fact, there’s a slider that you can use to input a custom radius.

The app identifies users by their team, and you can switch from the public chat room to converse with other people in your team or even whisper another player.

Razer also has plans to introduce a feature that allows users to drop so-called “Beacons” to open a chat room that is only available near them.

To help push the app, Razer is even hosting "pokécrawls" near its San Francisco store. As it turns out, the company isn't even the first to make a chat app for Pokémon Go. An app called GoChat garnered a lot of attention in the past week, and its developer, Jonathan Zarra, had difficulties making enough money to cope with the sheer demand and keep the service going.

For now, local users will be able to use the RazerGo chat app, but Pokémon Go isn’t yet live, even if there’s supposedly already a dedicated server here. With some luck, maybe we’ll be able to both chat and fulfill our dreams of becoming a real-life (sort of) Pokémon trainer. In the meantime, you can check how to get a headstart on your starter Pokémon here.
