The Apple A9's reign as the top mobile CPU on the AnTuTu benchmark is a short one; the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset is now the most powerful mobile chip in the market.

In a news release posted on 2nd March, AnTuTu crowns the Snapdragon 820 as the leader of the pack with a score of 136,383. The Apple A9 is close behind with a score of 132,657. What about Samsung's latest Exynos 8890 processors that power the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge? Well, they are ranked third.

For GPU performance, the Adreno 530 found in the Snapdragon 820 enjoys a healthy lead over the PowerVR GT7600 in the Apple A9. The Mali-T880 MP12 of the Exynos 8890 falls slightly below the Apple A9.

AnTuTu claims that these results are average scores and actual results may differ. As we've always mentioned in our reviews, synthetic benchmark results do not represent real world performance. Under real world usage conditions, these processors may perform better or worse.
