We've seen several leaked dummy units, schematics, moldsrenders, prototypes and concept images of the purported iPhone 8, but none is as detailed as these two images by iDROPNEWS when it comes to size comparisons with the iPhone 7/7 Plus and Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+.

When compared to the 4.7-inch iPhone 7, the iPhone 8 is only slightly taller, wider and thicker although it is expected to sport a much larger 5.8-inch OLED display. The minimal bezels also help the iPhone 8 maintain a smaller footprint than the 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus.

The comparison becomes more interesting when the iPhone 8 is pitted against the Galaxy S8 and S8+. The iPhone 8 will be thinner and shorter than both Galaxy S8 models, but wider than the 5.8-inch Galaxy S8 and narrower than the 6.2-inch Galaxy S8+. For the number junkies, here are the dimensions of the phones compared for easy reference:

  • iPhone 8 - 143.59 x 70.94 x 7.57mm
  • iPhone 7 - 138.3 x 67.1 x 7.1mm
  • iPhone 7 Plus - 158.2 x 77.9 x 7.3mm
  • Galaxy S8 - 148.9 x 68.1 x 8mm
  • Galaxy S8+ - 159.5 x 73.4 x 8.1mm

The dimensions for the iPhone 8 are reportedly provided by factory workers who have information on the upcoming device. If everything goes as planned, we are expecting Apple to announce the new iPhone models in September with retail availability in October.
