Print Photos Instantly and Wirelessly with the Canon Selphy CP900

Canon has announced the new Selphy CP900.

With built-in Wi-Fi capability, the compact Selphy CP900 can connect wirelessly to iOS and Android devices, allowing users to print images taken with their smartphones and tablets conveniently. iPhone/iPad and Android users can print photos via Canon’s EasyPhotoPrint app via a wireless access point. The CP900 is also able to support DPS over IP for cameras to connect and print wirelessly without requiring a router.

Providing gradations at a high 300 x 300dpi resolution, the printer comes with three new optimisation scenes, Cloudy, Blue Sky and Sunset, automatically and intelligently analyzing and correcting images. Also, with the popularity of photo-sharing software and apps like Instagram which captures photos in a square format, the Selphy CP900 enables users to print such photos with the new 54 x 54mm square ratio paper. Canon sticker labels available in this new size allow for easy personalisation on any surface. Additionally, the SELPHY CP900 can also print postcard size and ID photos of up to 28 different sizes (ICAO standard) with cropping. To maximise cost-efficiency, the SELPHY CP900 is also able to print ID photos of up to two different people on a single sheet of paper.

Compared to its predecessor, the Selphy CP800, the CP900 is 12% thinner and 14 lighter, and boasts a quicker response time, processing images 3.3 times faster.

The Selphy CP900 comes in pink, white and black, and will be available from 30 Aug at authorized Canon dealers at S$199. Canon’s EasyPhotoPrint app can be downloaded from the Apple App store. Android users can also download the app, which is available to them only till end of Dec 2012.

Canon’s first Wi-Fi-enabled compact photo printer produces high-quality and long-lasting photographic keepsakes quickly

Singapore – Canon is proud to introduce a fun and brand-new photo-printing experience with the new SELPHY CP900. With built-in Wi-Fi capability, it enables users to print images taken with their smartphones and tablets anytime, anywhere. Despite being more compact than its predecessor, the SELPHY CP900 is no lightweight – users can expect superb image quality as well as increased flexibility to print irregular-sized photos.

“The ultra-compact SELPHY CP900 now offers more enjoyment as well as functionality on-the-go, as it enables consumers to produce high-quality images easily with its improved ability to connect with a wide variety of devices. With an increasing amount of consumers using their mobile phones and popular apps such as Instagram to take photos, the SELPHY CP900 provides creative solutions which will allow for a more personalised, long-lasting copy of their photos and memories,” said Andrew Koh, Senior Director and General Manager of the Consumer Imaging and Information Products Group, Canon Singapore.

Easy connectivity to more gadgets

Direct printing of photos instantly has never been easier with the SELPHY CP900 which can connect wirelessly to iOS and Android devices as well as a wide range of commonly-used devices like laptops and PCs to print photos.

iPhone/iPad and Android users can print photos via Canon’s EasyPhotoPrint app (downloadable from Apple App store and Android app available from Dec. 2012). The SELPHY CP900’s wireless capabilities also support DPS over IP (a standard for interconnecting devices over LAN/wireless) for cameras to connect and print wirelessly without going through a computer.

Printing from a memory card or external drives is also possible as the SELPHY CP900 is equipped with a slot compatible with the widely-used SD/SDHC/SDHC/SDXC/MMC/ MMCplus/HC MMCplus storage cards, as well as an USB slot for easy access to photos saved in a flash drive or hard disk.

Improved picture quality

Expect sharp photos with rich and vibrant colours as a result of the SELPHY CP900’s dye-sublimation system which provides excellent gradations at a high 300x300 dpi resolution. The printer, which also has three new optimisation scenes, Cloudy, Blue Sky and Sunset, automatically and intelligently analyses and corrects images – correcting their brightness, contrast and reduces noise before printing – ensuring stunning and impressive images every time. Users will be able to preview these creations with the newly improved high-resolution 2.7” LCD Display with a wide viewing angle.

With the increasing popularity of photo-sharing software and apps like Instagram which captures photos in a square format, the SELPHY CP900 enables users to print such photos with the new 54 X 54mm square ratio paper.

Photos fading will never be a worry as images printed with the SELPHY CP900 are protected by a durable protective print over-coating which helps preserve these precious memories for up to 100 years if kept in a photo album.

Faster and more portable

Compared to the previous model, the SELPHY CP800, the new ultra-compact SELPHY CP900 is 12% thinner and 14% lighter. This is due to the development of a new slim and lightweight printer engine, as well as a thinner cassette.

The SELPHY CP900 also boasts a quicker response time, processing images 3.3 times faster than the SELPHY CP800.

Pricing and availability

The SELPHY CP900 comes in three colours — pink, white and black. It will be available from 30 August 2012 at authorised Canon dealers at the recommended retail price of $199.
