Good news for consumers outside of the U.S and Japan - the HTC J Butterfly (Japan-specific model), otherwise known as the Droid DNA in the U.S, may soon hit international markets as the HTC Deluxe.

Tipster @evleaks posted an alleged press image of the HTC Deluxe on Twitter with the caption, "HTC Deluxe, global edition." @evleaks has proven itself to be accurate recently with the pre-released images of Nokia Lumia 920, Lumia 820 and the wireless charging accessory. Here's a quick recap of the specs of the HTC J Butterfly / Droid DNA:

  • Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 quad-core 1.5GHz processor
  • 2GB RAM
  • 5.0-inch Super LCD 3 display / 1080 x 1920 pixels / 440ppi
  • Android 4.1 Jelly Bean with Sense 4+
  • 16GB internal storage (no memory card slot)
  • 8-megapixel rear autofocus camera
  • 2020mAh battery

The main highlight of the device is its 5.0-inch Super LCD 3 display, which boasts an industry-leading pixel density of 440ppi. Current high-end smartphones have pixel densities ranging from 326ppi (iPhone 4/4S/5) to 342ppi (Windows Phone 8X by HTC)

While there is no information on the availability of the HTC Deluxe, we are expecting it to be launched in Q1 2013 since the company recently unveiled the One X+. The HTC Deluxe is likely to go head to head against the likes of the 5.5-inch Samsung Galaxy Note II, LG Optimus G, LG Nexus 4 and ASUS PadFone 2
