Pre-order the Oculus Rift, get Eve: Valkyrie free

Eve: Valkyrie would make a good showcase of what VR can do. Impressions of the game from various trade shows have been pretty positive.

With the VR revolution delayed yet again due to the HTC Vive being pushed to an April 2016 launch, early adopters of VR headsets are left twiddling their thumbs this holiday season instead in playing games in VR.

While there's nothing anybody can do about the delays, there is a silver lining to it, at least if you're looking to get an Oculus Rift. CCP Games' Eve: Valkyrie will be bundled with all pre-orders of the Oculus Rift headset.

Don't worry if you've never heard of CCP Games. Despite being in the business for nearly two decades now, the studio only has a handful of titles. Their most popular title is Eve, an ultra-hardcore MMO set in space. Dust 514, their most recent release, interacts with the Eve MMO, giving gamers playing the MMO the ability to hire and support players playing in Dust 514. It's unknown though if Eve: Valkyrie will feature similar levels of interaction with the Eve MMO or Dust 514.

Here's a look at the game in action.

Eve: Valkyrie is a space combat dog-fighting game, similar to X-Wing, Star Citizen or Elite. The game, while bundled free with every Oculus Rift pre-order, is not exclusive to the headset. It is also coming to the PS4, and is compatible with Sony's Playstation VR.

In the PR release, Eve: Valkyrie is mentioned to be premiering on the Oculus Rift. While easy to dismiss, it's actually interesting that Eve: Valkyrie might not be in the PS VR's launch line-up if the headset releases earlier than the Oculus Rift. Of course, it could also mean that the Oculus Rift will be the first headset out of the gate next year.

Now if only Oculus VR would announce when pre-orders for the Oculus Rift would start.
