Philips’ Hue wireless dimming kit makes it easy to install dimming remote lights

Just a few days ago, if you wanted dimming lights, you’d have to deal with expensive, troublesome wiring and installation. Now, you can say goodbye to all of that.

Philips’ new Hue wireless dimming kit makes it super-easy to install dimming, wireless lights yourself. The kit comes with a dimming remote and a white LED Hue bulb, with a colour temperature of 2,700k. Screw the bulb in, and you can control it instantly with the remote. The battery-powered remote can be mounted or stuck onto a wall using the back adhesive, or it can be taken off its mount and carried around the house.

The dimming remote can be mounted onto a wall, or stuck on using the back adhesive.

It can also be taken off its mount and carried around the house.

The remote uses the ZigBee radio protocol to control the light, and you can add up to 10 Hue lights on the same remote. Unlike previous kits, the wireless dimming kit doesn’t come with or require the Philips Hue bridge to work, so it’s really plug-and-play. It can be integrated with other Hue lights using the Hue bridge, which connects to Wi-Fi via your router and can connect up to 50 bulbs at a time.

The Philips Hue wireless dimming kit costs US$40 (approx. S$56), and will be sold in the US this September. No word yet on a local release date and pricing, but we hope it comes here.
