Pew Research Center: Teens Finding Facebook a Burden
According to a recent study done by the Pew Research Center, teenagers are displaying a "waning" enthusiasm for Facebook. Due to the all the "drama" and stress that comes from managing their online reputation as well as friends, teenagers are increasingly finding Facebook a burden. According to All Things D, the social media of choice for teens is now Twitter.
As the report states, teens took some time to warm up to Twitter, a service that was first colonized by adults. Today, however, “teens are now migrating to Twitter in growing numbers, often as a supplement to their Facebook use. It's worth noting that while Twitter may be increasing in popularity with the kids, it’s not necessarily at the expense of Facebook in terms of user activity (at least, not yet).
All Things D also noted that this loss of interest in Facebook from teenagers explains why the HTC First didn't take off as intended.
