Pebble Gets Real, Introduces Pebble Watch Made from Steel

Pebble has just announced a premium version of its smartwatch -- the Pebble Steel. Like its name suggests, the Pebble Steel will feature a machine milled stainless steel case, while the watch's face will be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass.

The Pebble smartwatch might have been quite successful, but that didn't stop consumers from finding fault with it. One of the chief complaints about the watch is that it feels too cheap, which is why the Pebble Steel is created. It's compatible with the existing Pebble ecosystem, but instead of a plastic case, it now features a milled stainless steel case (matte black or silver), while the watch's face has Gorilla Glass protecting it. The 5ATM rated waterproof watch will be begin shipping in mid-February this year, and will retail for US$249. For that price, the Pebble Steel will also come with two -- leather and metal -- watch bands.
